A Motion Controls Robotics, Inc. robot cell was recently added to FANUC Robotics’ YouTube channel. Plastic gas cans - the kind you keep in your garage for the lawnmower and other gas powered equipment - are assembled in the cell. In the video, the first of two LRMate 200iB robots hangs a label on the can’s nozzle opening, then assembles the vent plug to the can. A second LRMate 200iB assembles the nozzle tube to the nozzle cap, then installs the cap and tube onto the gas can. An iR Vision system identifies four different sizes of plastic consumer gas cans. A FANUC iR Vision system locates the can’s vent and nozzle openings. A torque monitor in the second robot’s end-of-arm tooling ensures the nozzle is tightened correctly. The video is proving to be popular since its launch, check it out at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=89prwGUZjM0.
